What came first, the chicken or the pack?

An exciting opportunity arose to reimagine the packaging for Coles’ iconic Roast Chicken. In collaboration with print and paper specialists, Hindsight developed a more sustainable packaging solution that retains the product’s well-loved familiarity while improving its environmental footprint.

Moving away from the traditional plastic bag, the new concept introduces a paper-based box with an integrated plastic lining to ensure durability. Featuring a sturdy carry handle, leak-proof construction, and heat-retaining materials, the design maintains the practicality customers expect.

Visually, the packaging retains Coles’ warm, welcoming colour palette and incorporates a clear viewing window, striking a balance between trusted brand recognition and a refreshed, eco-conscious physical design.
